Our History
Kyrene Monte Vista Elementary School opened its doors on August 28th, 1989 with 622 students. In that opening year, we had 26 classrooms of kindergarten through sixth grade students. The very next school year, our district shifted to a middle school configuration comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. From our second year onward, Kyrene Monte Vista has been a school serving kindergarten through fifth grade students. Our student growth increased year by year until peaking in 1993 with 970 students. Our student population has decreased every year after that, due to boundary changes and a stabilized community.
We continue to strive for excellence in our students every day. Our PBS/Core Values program teaches and enables our students to make decisions that better themselves and their community.
Our Character Traits are: Respect, Caring, Citizenship, Fairness, Responsibility and Trustworthiness.
